Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary

The new Royal Infirmary is the first Scottish District General Hospital to be constructed with 100% single rooms. Set in a rural environment, it led to a low rise campus style design with increased integrated landscaping.

To minimise construction time on-site, the layout was designed to facilitate construction on a number of fronts and maximise off-site manufacturing. Building Information Modelling (BIM) was utilised from an early concept stage to enhance user group process.

"Working with the team from Keppie over the last few months, preparing the Reference Design for our Outline Business Case for a new hospital in Dumfries, has been a fantastic experience for the team in NHS Dumfries & Galloway. Keppie’s architects and designers have worked with team of clinicians and staff to ensure that the proposals for our new hospital best meet current patient needs and future demands."
