Lanarkshire Beatson

The Lanarkshire Beatson is located at Monklands Hospital and has been designed as a satellite radiotherapy treatment centre for the existing Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre located at Gartnavel Hospital in Glasgow. It will provide much needed additional treatment facilities for Lanarkshire and the surrounding area in West Central and South West Scotland.

Public and private waiting facilities have been arranged around a central courtyard garden allowing natural daylight and ventilation to enter the building, and creating an area for relaxation for patients, relatives and staff alike. A pre-treatment suite containing a CT scanner and simulator and patient consultation and examination facilities has been included for diagnostic review prior to treatment.

The centre contains three new linear accelerator treatment rooms (linac bunkers) to allow patients to receive their treatment closer to home. The building layout has been designed to facilitate the possible addition of a fourth linac bunker should the need arise in the future.
