A new approach to university campuses

Whilst establishing client contacts in Egypt during 2009, Keppie were approached with an opportunity to develop existing designs for a new University Campus for Deraya University in El Minya. Our experience in North Africa, where we worked closely with our government client in Libya to produce Stage D designs for 8 University campuses.

Following the production of a revised campus masterplan which included residential accommodation, sports facilities, community leisure areas and a teaching hospital, we were asked to undertake a more in depth analysis of the faculties themselves. Accommodation had previously been designed, however our new key criteria, together with area revisions due to cost constraints, indicated the need for a new approach.
