Transformational Redevelopment
Keppie has provided a strategic Masterplan Sketch for the transformation of Glenrothes Town Centre for Moorgarth Group to discuss development of this opportunity with Fife Council and Scottish Enterprise. It includes part demolition and repurposing of the existing Kingdom Shopping Centre whilst considering Fife Council’s sustainablity agenda. Place-making sketches illustrate a bold and transformational approach to a new ‘town centre’ to provide identity and a central focus for Glenrothes.
Mixed-use and leisure spaces are arranged around a ‘Central Park’ which connects with external and internal public open spaces. Uses include new HQ offices for Fife Council, an academic village, residential properties, cafes, bars and markets in and around the park/square, retirement living, business space, a technical/ digital hub and a hotel. A leisure development forms the west anchor and integrates the existing Rothes Halls. Along with the integration of the retained part of the Kingdom Shopping Centre and Glenrothes Bus Station, consideration is also given to developing a zero-carbon development.
