DRIVING FORCE – NEW STATE OF THE ART PREMISIS FOR SCANIA
Keppie provided architectural support for the construction of a specialist servicing facility for Scania UK in Inverness. The project comprising a circa 1,000 sqm service area with associated service pits, tachograph and general servicing and circa 110 sqm of administrative/ welfare area. There is also a considerable amount of external yard area for lorry parking.
Strategically well located at Bridge Point, Longman Drive, Inverness, the project represents the first UK Scania service centre to be constructed in accordance with a Swedish design model and as such sets the benchmark standard for future facilities in the UK.
Based on a 1.8 acre site with a high security, CCTV-monitored truck parking area, the new Scania Inverness premises offers two full length pits, an DVSA Authorised Test Facility with brake tester, beam setter and shaker plate, a rolling road, tachograph bay and steam cleaning equipment.
As well as the significant investment in equipment and specialist tooling the facility itself also promotes sustainable design through;
